George Stow North was born on April 15, 1842, the son of Deacon Samuel and Mary with siblings Charles and Frederick E.  He enlisted from Chatham, CT (East Hampton, CT) into the 1st Heavy Artillery, Company G on May 22, 1861.  He was promoted to Corporal on April 14, 1862.  He was discharged on May 21, 1864.  He received a Civil War pension.  In 1919 he was an unmarried photographer living in South Norwalk.  He died on August 28, 1926 at age 84 and was buried in Maple Cemetery, Berlin.
