Wallace R Andrus

Wallace R. Andrus enlisted on July 20, 1862 in the 16th Regiment, Company G as a private.  On September 17, 1862 he was promoted to Sergeant.  On February 4, 1863 he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant of 16th Regiment, Company I.  He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant on May 22, 1863.  On April 20, 1864 he was captured as a prisoner of war at Plymouth, NC.  He was at Andersonville prison of war camp.  He was pardoned on December 10, 1864 and discharged on May 15, 1865.  His father was George Andrus.  In 1880, he lived in East Orange, NJ with his wife Annie and children Howard born 1868, Albert born 1871, and Grace born 1878.  He was a bookkeeper.  By 1900, he had moved to Tacoma, WA.  His wife Annis received his Civil War pension.   He died on April 24, 1921 in Oregon.
