Sherman Hart was the son of Samuel and Lucy D. Hart.  He enlisted into the Iowa 32^nd Regiment, Company I on October 7, 1862.  He died of disease at age 35 on September 19, 1863 at Island No. 10, Tennessee in the Mississippi River.  He was buried in the Memphis National Cemetery in Tennessee.  He also has a stone in the Blue Hills Cemetery (South Burying Ground) in Kensington.
