Richard Ringwood

Richard Ringwood was born in Ireland.  On March 29, 1855 he became a naturalized citizen.  In 1860, he was age 30 and  a laborer lived on Edgewood Road near orchard Road in Berlin with his wife Catherine, age 30 and son James.  He enlisted into the 14th Regiment, Company A on August 14, 1862.  His son also served in the Civil War.  He was captured on May 25, 1864 in North Anna River, VA.  He was a prisoner of war in Andersonville were he died on August 25, 1864 at age 34 of diarrhea.  There is a gravestone at the National Cemetery at Andersonville:  section E, site 6796.
