Philip H Deming

Philip Henry Deming was born on May 4, 1835, the son of Philip Deming and Sarah Andrews.  In 1860, he was age 24, a farmer in 1860 lived in Berlin with his wife Emily Beckley, age 27, and children: Wilbur, age 5, and Clarence, age 3.  He enlisted into the 25th Regiment, Company  A on September 4, 1862 as a private.  The Hartford Courant described his death on November 6, 1862:  “Philip Deming a soldier of the 25th Regiment died yesterday at Berlin of a disease termed by his physicians as black vomit.  He had been away from camp for about two weeks.”  He was buried in the Beckley Cemetery, East Berlin, CT.
