Oliver D Bacon

Oliver D. Bacon was born about 1841 in Burlington CT to parents Roswell Bacon Jr and Betsy Smith with brothers Andrew, Elijah and Almeron and sister Maria.  By 1850 the family had moved to Berlin  He enlisted on August 9, 1861 to First Squadron Cavalry, Company A (also known as the 2nd NY Cavalry) as a saddler.  On February 1864 he transferred to Company I.  He was discharged on September 15, 1864.  After the war, Oliver married  Rosa Wood of Berlin.  Rosa died in 1864.  Oliver worked as a stonecutter.  In 1870, Oliver is mentioned in a newspaper article regarding a reunion of the 14th to be held in Meriden, CT.  No other information is available about him.
