Julius Collins

Julius Collins was born in 1831.  In 1860, Julius, age 28, lived in Berlin with his wife Emeline, age 20, and children: Hiram, age 7, Mary, age 4, Sarah, age 2,  and Julius, age 1.  He enlisted into the 2nd Heavy Artllery, Company E on January 4, 1864.  He was promoted to Sergeant on July 8, 1865.  He mustered out on August 18, 1865 at Fort Ethan Allen in Washington DC.  After the war, he returned to live in Berlin with his family.  By 1870, Julius and Emeline had additional children:  Ira, age 8 and Henry, age 4.  He collected his Civil War pension.  He died on February 15, 1920 and was buried in Maple Cemetery.
