John Doolittle, with a middle initial K or A.  was born about 1840 with parents Abisha and Mary and siblings Mary and Lewis.  He enlisted from Meriden into the 3^rd Regiment, Company B on April 25, 1861.  He mustered out on August 12, 1861. He reenlisted from Middletown on October 1, 1861.  He was wounded on Sept. 17, 1862 at Antietam, MD.  He died from his wounds on October 9, 1862.
