Jacob Cook Bauer

Jacob Cook Bauer was born in June 1837 in Germany.  He immigrated in 1851/1853/1854.  He married Emily Moore in 1860.  He had children:  Carrie, Olive, Pauline.  He enlisted on August 11, 1862 into the 16th Regiment, Company G as a private.  He was promoted to Corporal on March 6, 1863.  He was promoted to Sergeant on May 9, 1863.  He was mentioned in Charlie’s Civil War by Charles Brandegee Livingstone, page 76.  He was captured on April 20, 1864 in Plymouth, NC,  He was a prisoner of war in Andersonville.  He was pardoned on December 10, 1864.  He mustered out on June 24, 1865.  He worked milling paper.  He died in 1931 at age 92 and is buried in West Lane Cemetery.
