Homer F. Damon was born in 1843. Homer, age 19, enlisted from Hawley, MA into the Massachusetts 52nd Regiment, Company E on January 9, 1862. He mustered out on August 14, 1863 at Camp Miller in Granville, MA. By 1870, he lived in New Britain, worked in a tin shop, with his wife Josephine age 24, and children: Frederick, age 3, and William A. By 1880, the family lived in Berlin at 801 Worthington Ridge and added son Hubert, age 6. He owned a tinsmith shop. An advertisement states: dealer in stoves and ranges, tinward, lead pipe, pumps, roofing & jobbing done promptly. His wife Josephine collected his Civil War pension. He died on May 27, 1907 at age 64 and is buried in Maple Cemetery.
