Henry Tibbals, age 38, in 1860 lived in Berlin with his wife, Elizabeth Sileck, age 38, and children: Wm, age 16, Cloe, age 14, George, age 10, and Mary, age 8. He belonged to the Berlin Congregational Church. His son William also enlisted. He enlisted into the 16th Regiment, Company G on August 8, 1862. He was promoted to Corporal on May 9, 1863. He was mentioned in Charlie’s Civil War by Charles Brandegee Livingstone, page 76. He was captured on April 20, 1864 in Plymouth, NC. He was a prisoner of war in Andersonville and died on July 31, 1864 of diarrhea. His grave in Andersonville is # 4444. He also has a stone in Wilcox Cemetery in East Berlin.
