Henry Sage

Henry Sage was born about 1823 the son of Erastus and Elinor Dickinson Sage.  In 1860 he was age 36 and a farmer  living in Berlin with his wife Lovitt, age 31, and children:  Florence, Theodore, age 15, and Helena, age 14.  His son Theodore enlisted into the Civil War too.  He enlisted into the 25th Regiment, Company A on April 9, 1862.  He mustered out on August 26, 1863 in Hartford, CT.  By 1880, he was living in Berlin with his wife Laureta Kenea and children: Florence, age 22, and George, age 15.  He was a Town Selectman 1878-1880 and 1881-1885.  He was a member of the Berlin Congregational Church.  In the Local History room is his Diary written during the war.  He collected his Civil War pension.  He died on November 21, 1886 at age 63 and was buried in the Maple Cemetery in Berlin.
