Henry J. Colby was born in 1848 in New York.  He enlisted from Goshen, CT into the 2^nd Heavy Artillery, Company K on July 31, 1862.  He mustered out on September 11, 1862.  He married Ruth in 1875.  He loved parades.  The family moved to Berlin.  He was the last man to serve in the Civil War in Berlin.  He died on November 21, 1938 at age 89 years and was buried in Maple Cemetery.
