Henry Bailey, middle initial either R or L was born in St Lawrence, NY.  In 1850 he was age 8 living in New Britain with his parents Thomas, age 36, and Phebe, age 32.  He enlisted on August 9, 1861 to the 1^st Squadron Cavalry, Company A as a private.  He was promoted to Corporal.  He reenlisted on December 21, 1863.  He mustered out on June 23, 1865.  He married Melissa Jeffrey.  Henry L. died on March 15, 1924 at age 84 and was buried in Wilcox Cemetery, East Berlin
