George W. Cook was born on July 21, 1826.  He enlisted into the 16^th Regiment, Company G on July 8, 1862 as a 2^nd Lieutenant.  He resigned on October 2, 1862.  In 1870, George, age 32, lived in Berlin with his wife Jennie, age 26, and their daughter Alice, age 3.  He was a trustee of the Berlin Savings Bank 1873-1880.  He died on August 15, 1893 at age 67 and was buried in Wilcox Cemetery.
