George S. Sheldon, 3rd lived in New Britain in 1860. He enlisted into the 1st Heavy Artillery, Company A on August 22, 1863. He received a disability disorder on October 28, 1864. He received his Civil War pension. By 1870 he had returned to New Britain and lived with his wife Ellen, age 29, and daughter Harriet, age 1, and mother Eliza, age 57. He collected his Civil War pension. He died on December 15, 1918 at age 83 and was buried in Maple Cemetery in Berlin.
