George H. Thompson was born in Ireland in 1801.  In 1860, at age 55, he lived in Berlin with his wife Nancy, and children:  Sarah, John, age 20, Samuell Joseph, age 13, Charlotte, age 10, Eliza, age 9, and George, age 4.  He enlisted into the 22^nd Regiment, Company E on August 30, 1862.  He mustered out on July 7, 1863 in Hartford, CT.  He died on August 9, 1873 at age 72 and was buried in Maple Cemetery in Berlin.
