Edgar B Bennett

Edgar B. Bennett was born on November 2, 1842.  In 1860, at age 18, he lived in Burlington, CT with his mother Phoebe, and was a laborer.  He enlisted from Burlington into the 1st Heavy Artillery, Company K as a Corporal.  On June 24, 1862, he was reduced in rank but promoted again to Corporal on October 10, 1863.  He reenlisted on November 11, 1863.  He was promoted to Sergeant on May 28, 1864.  He mustered out on September 15, 1865.  By 1870, he had returned to Burlington, with his wife Mary Marsh, age 20, and child.   He died on March 11, 1918 at age 75 and is buried in Wilcox Cemetery.
