Chauncey D Bartram

Chauncey D. Bartram enlisted on August 8, 1861 to the 1st Squadron Cavalry as a musician.  He reenlisted on December 21, 1863.  He transferred to the 2nd Battalion, Company 17 on January 1, 1865.  He was discharged on August 8, 1865.  His parents were Darius and Polly Hodge.  His brothers Andrew and Sylvester also served in the Civil War.  He married first to Sarah.  He married second to Roxanna Steele on July 1, 1860.   In 1870, he was age 31 and lived in Berlin with his wife Roseanna, age 30, and children Justin, age 4 (1866),  Rosabel age 2 (1868), and Henry (baby - 1870).  He lived in Fitch’s Home for Soldiers in Darien.  He was hot by a train and died 2 days later on November 2, 1905 and is buried in Maple Cemetery, Berlin.
