Charles W. Norton was born in August 1842, the son of George and Roxanna with siblings Albro, Edward, and Jane.  In 1860 he was age 17, a mechanic, living in New Britain in 1860.  He  enlisted into the 14th Regiment, Company F on July 8, 1862.  He was wounded on December 13, 1862 at Fredericksburg, VA.  He was promoted to Corporal on February 17, 1864.  He was wounded in the Battle of the Wilderness on May 6, 1864.  He was discharged on July 11, 1865.  After the war, he lived in New Britain with his wife Rosella married in 1869 with children Daniel and Ethel.   He died on January 18, 1923 at 80 years, 5 months of age and was buried in Fairview Cemetery in New Britain, CT.
