Charles B. Whittlessey was born about 1845 the son of Rev. Joseph and Maria Whittlesey.  He enlisted into the Ohio 55^th Regiment, Company I on August 27, 1862.  He died of disease on February 21, 1864 in Nashville, Tennessee at age 29 years.  He was buried in the Maple Cemetery in Berlin.
