August Brandt

August Brandt enlisted into the 1st Heavy Artillery, Company H on May 22, 1861 in Captain Clark’s Compnay of New Britain.  He was mentioned in Charlie’s Civil War by Charles Brandegee Livingstone, page 106, 109, 110 as a Berlin school chum.  He died on September 20, 1861 at age 31 of dysentery in Darnstown, MD (Hartford Courant).    He had a wife Jane and four children: Abbot, Mary, August, and an infant.
